Your dream is fascinating, Trevy, especially the griffins! Isn't it interesting how our subconscious weaves these narratives with some rooting n our everyday lives woven together with symbols we may or may not relate to? I find my dreams these days are about longings for things either I'm not making time for or not pursuing, and once I recognize them and make conscious decisions about whether or not those are really longings I want to assuage, the dreams change.

Aging is so fraught in our culture, and yet for me, it has been so freeing. I can (and just did) cut my long hair all off into a pixie cut without caring what anyone else thinks. I can write about my personal eco-spirituality without worrying that I'm not "expert" enough. I can decide to move to another state and learn a whole new place. Being a widow is part of it, of course, and that is certainly not something I would have chosen, but honestly, it's also freeing to live on my own and not have to accommodate someone else's desires. In some ways, I'm living a more authentic life as I age, and I like that.

Thanks for prompting me to think about this, as you do. I appreciate your work. Blessings!

I like your plan of pursuing what shows up in dreams as a way of meeting the needs we’re ignoring. There are definitely things I don’t really allow myself and if that’s ever going to change, it has to start now. Love the sound of your pixie! I went to your Notes looking but didn’t see a picture. I bet it feels fabulous. Thanks, Susan, as always.

It's interesting how we deny ourself some things, for reasons that aren't always clear. Good for you for deciding to change that!

I haven't put up a photo yet, but my Pixie cut will appear in next week's Earthbound conversation with Carolyn Crane, which is on Zoom rather than live because of techincal issues getting her onto a Substack Live. "Aging is a change you can’t control, and it feels like entering water that might be over your head." What an understatement. Sometimes I wonder how I even got this far. I remember looking at my arm one day and noticing sagging skin. What is that?? Of course, my first instinct was to search for "cures for aging skin." But no potions or lotions will stop time. I embrace it each day now, no longer fearful but proud. It is what it is, and I surrender to the process. But to be honest, I'm glad I'm not dreaming about circus animals - lol.

Love your thoughts on what the dreams mean and I totally understand the bridge theory. I think lots of what we do during the day is what comes up in our dreams at night. Do not fear age if you think what is the alternative would be ! ❤️
